Reimagining the future of Individual Giving - Barnardo’s
When the future feels uncertain, fundraisers need to find ways to reduce risk. Learning from others’ successes – and failures – is one great way to do just that. I ran a cross-team innovation workshop for Barnardo’s to identify trends in charity innovation and help the team reimagine the future of Individual Giving.
We bought together stakeholders from Individual Giving, Brand, and Innovation teams to look forward and identify emerging fundraising trends, as well as to glance back and capture those timeless fundraising principles we need to hold onto.
Across the day the insight we gathered grew into our ‘tree of innovation’ – a big visual that showed how common fundraising principles have evolved across the past, the present, and the future.
The day ended with a crafty, visionary exercise called ‘design a box’. The team generated product ideas based on all the day’s insights and bought them to life by creating a physical box to show off the thinking. This gave the group a way of seeing the new possibilities.
The Individual Giving team now has the ultimate checklist for innovation, and the first steps on their roadmap for their fundraising future.
